Modulname:
STATIONS-KISS
Kurzname:
STATIONS
Surveillance objective:
Infection-Surveillance and/or Pathogen-Surveillance (MRE-Surveillance)
Surveillance principle:
Ward-based
Patient collective:
- Stationary patients
Short description:
You can record both nosocomial infections, regardless of the pathogen, and patients with multidrug-resistant pathogens and Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDI) on your general ward. You may choose to focus on one type of surveillance (infections or pathogens) or conduct both simultaneously.
Detail description:
The procedure for infection surveillance is detailed in the protocol: Surveillance of Nosocomial Infections. Here, you are free to choose which types of infections to record (unlike in ITS-KISS). In the analysis, the use of certain devices, which may pose a risk factor for the chosen infection, is also considered (e.g., urinary tract infections—urinary catheter; septicemias—central venous catheter, peripheral access, port).
The procedure for pathogen surveillance is detailed in the protocol: Surveillance of Patients with MRE and/or CDI. You can record patients with MRSA, VRE, MRGN (colonization/infection), and CDI (infection only). Both community-acquired and nosocomial cases are counted, and each pathogen type can be selected individually.
