KISS Modules
To enhance the significance of the data and thus the effectiveness of surveillance, KISS does not conduct hospital-wide data collection; instead, it focuses on specific high-risk areas within the hospital. This approach targets particular patient groups (e.g., NEO-KISS) or specialized units (e.g., ITS-KISS) with a high infection risk. For this reason, KISS consists of multiple modules tailored to different high-risk areas, each with specific surveillance methods. The following high-risk areas are addressed by the individual KISS modules:
Recording of Dialysis-Associated Infections in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis Treatment in Your Outpatient Dialysis Facility
Recording of Community-Acquired and Nosocomial Infections with Clostridioides difficile and Cases of Clostridioides difficile-Associated Diarrhea (CDI)
Surveillance of Hand Disinfectant Consumption (HDC) at the Ward Level or in Functional Areas (e.g., Dialysis, Endoscopy), in Outpatient Medicine, as well as in Nursing and Care Homes. Optionally, data can also be collected as part of direct compliance observation and for the availability of hand disinfectant dispensers.
Recording of Nosocomial Infections Regardless of Pathogen, as well as Patients with Multidrug-Resistant Pathogens and Clostridium difficile-Associated Diarrhea (CDI) in Intensive Care Units
With the MRSA-KISS module, all MRSA cases in a hospital are recorded, and reference data are generated.
Recording of Nosocomial Infections, Multidrug-Resistant Pathogens, and Antibiotic Use in Premature Infants with a Birth Weight < 1,500 g in Neonatal Departments
Surveillance of Nosocomial Septicemias and Pneumonias in Iatrogenically Immunosuppressed Patients with Allogeneic and Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation
Surveillance of Surgical Site Infections and, optionally, Lower Respiratory Tract Infections after Common or Particularly Relevant Surgeries (Indicator Surgeries).
You can record both nosocomial infections, regardless of the pathogen, and patients with multidrug-resistant pathogens and Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDI) on your general ward. You may choose to focus on one type of surveillance (infections or pathogens) or conduct both simultaneously.
VARIA
The webKess module VARIA hosts multiple surveillance components with identical structural data under one roof.
